Shanika is a family centered bEarth worker, student midwife and Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) who is rooted on the south side of Chicago. She proudly centers BIPOC families through attending home births and out-of-home births, providing lactation support, and offering comprehensive postpartum care. With deep reverence to healing traditions from the antebellum south, Shanika honors plants and their relationship to reproductive health through medicine making. She birthed both her children in her home and nourished them from the breast for over 4 years consecutively. Her major goal in this lifetime is to co-create a life that all of our children do not need to deeply heal from. She is grateful that her experiences in birth and healing our lineage have positioned her to be a humble guide to ancient ways for the evolving family.
